Bike Ride

Yesterday I went down 9th and followed it all the way down to Bleecker and as far East / South as Canal. 10th St goes all the way down to the Bowery, but I forgot how I got back around...I think I went all the way down to Delancey / Canal, which was too far South. The key is to get on Prince Sreet, which takes you West to Hudson, which then takes you up to 6th Avenue.

Need to work out the Westward / Northward route.

Exercise

I got up early for a change and got some exercise running stairs. Since it's the first time in a long time, I decided to take it easy and not tire myself out to dizziness (I've done this before).

Yesterday I had a great bike ride - 2 hrs. I want to get into the habit of riding regularly, but I need a "beater" bike that I can park on the sidewalk and not worry about having it stripped. (Ok, finding a beater bike is now on my to-do list).

I have a lot to do this week -- get back to cleaning up and organizing. Trying to do some deep thinking of how to organize my job at work. However, getting "back in the saddle" with journalling is a good thing. To be continued...

News Feed

I'm in the process of getting up-to-speed with my blog. I'm not sure how many people really read blogs. Also, I'm skeptical about how accurate blogs are compared to other news sources such as newspapers.

We'll have to see how well people write, and how thorough they are with their research and accurate about their facts.

Economic Analysis

I've been thinking a lot about what needs to happen to get the US and global economy back-on-track. The first thing that needs to happen is that businesses need to sell things that people will pay for -- beyond the simple necessities.

Right now, people are struggling to afford just that, so it's a difficult cycle to break until people feel they have more discretionary income.

Also, people will probably learn to keep things for longer -- even cars. So, the question is what disposable category are people willing to pay additional money for?

Once these growth businesses start expanding, businesses can start to take out loans to invest in these types of businesses. Banks will see a return on investments and will start to lend.

The problem is -- what will these businesses be?

Another thing that just came into my mind is the value of recycled goods -- reusing things, or using them for longer. Again, the problem becomes if people aren't buying additional durable goods, what will they spend their money on for the economy to grow?

It goes back to housing -- everyone needs it: our population is increasing in general so housing is a necessity. More thoughts to come later...

HDTV

I have to reinstall Vista today to be able to be able to properly install Cineform's NeoScene for Windows. Ouch! It's painful -- all this to be able to "broadcast", or at least playback HDTV quality video.

But, I'll try to spin it to a positive -- "It's a learning experience".

Project Start-Up

So I wanted to get started on gathering thoughts for my next project. I have so many of them that haven't really gotten off the ground. Nonetheless, I believe I'm getting closer to gaining some traction.

At the very least, I have something down in writing.

Stage Mechanics and Electronics
A series of articles / learning modules describing how things work in the theater from a mechanical and electronic perspective.

More to come...
